Will there be food in heaven?

Not only is there food in heaven, but there is a feast that goes on for eternity (source: The Sinner's Guide by Venerable Louis of Granada). I was like, whaaat? Do I really want to eat for the rest of my afterlife? But after thinking about it while eating a juicy, sweet peach, I decided YES. What else other than a delicious chocalate chip muffin, shoots me out of bed in the morning? Face it, we love food.

We snack on it, talk about it, text about it, have jobs about it, and go places solely dedicated to it. There's channels, magazines, books, and newspaper sections all about it. Who hasn't asked a friend if she could have a teeny tiny piece of what she's eating?  And most of the time it's where we hang out with friends. Food connects us. Most of us have chatted around a table of cups filled to the brim with frozen yogurt. It just goes to show how much Jesus understands us and how He was once human too.

Inspiring Quote

"Make use of temporal things, but desire eternal things. Temporal goods will never satisfy you. Love alone that comes from God makes burdens light. The man in love flies high, runs swiftly, and overflows with joy. He is totally free for there is nothing to hold him back."

Vintage Haul

So I spotted a cute display window that belonged to a vintage boutique store. I had never been in it before and decided to check it out. I'm not really a vintage-y kind of girl but this store totally changed my mind. I'm practically in love with it or at least the boutique. Vintage doesn't mean granny high heels or unstylish, high waisted clothes. It means colorful high heels that don't look like you just bought them in the same store as the girl next to you. Hair bows that have you throwing away your headbands. Tops that scream cute. Earnings that change up the usual diamonds but don't go into old lady pearl territory. And the purses are everything from crossbody to wallets smaller than the palm of your hand. And anything from studs to leather. The very best part is this boutique has things for super cheap. The purses at $14 and under. Hair things at $4 and under. Clothes around $10. I don't remember the jewelry price. Check out your local boutiques :) They are like hidden treasures waiting to be found! The photos down below are of the things I bought. I will keep you updated about my vintage finds :). Keep me updated about yours!

P.S. The items at the boutique were either vintage or vintage inspired.

Short Shorts Making Modesty Difficult

It used to be the problem of getting shorts to fit me. But now it's the problem of getting shorts that don't feel like underwear. Even with modesty aside, I'm a little big boned so no I don't want to show off the thickest part of my thighs and second they are just plain uncomfortable that short. And I don't want bermuda shorts. Personally I can't feel pretty in those. Finally after going to 3 stores (Aero, JcPenneys, and Deb) I finally went to American Eagle where my old pair of shorts were from. They had the perfect length there! They have lots of washes and styles. They're comfy too.  So check out American Eagle if you rather not risk showing your booty. Down below is a picture of my shorts so you can see the length.

Augustine Mission comes and Nyx "All I ever wanted" makeup box

So I had an amazing mass at my school this past week.  This priest and kids at the Indian reservation came to play drums and sing in their native language and I loved it. What really got to me was that they sung a thanksgiving song for the Eucharist. I've always thanked God for dying on the cross, but I never thought about thanking God for the Eucharist. It's this beautiful gift God gave me and I didn't even thank him for it! Also the priest that resided at the Mass actually spent some time at the reservation and played this flute that wasn't like a regular flute. He played a healing prayer song and it was so pretty. It was familar so I think I have heard it before maybe on the Catholic radio when my mom listens to it or something. It was much needed too because my friendships needed healing.

I just wanted to put this into the same post too. I went to Urban Outfitters and got the Nyx 'All I ever wanted' makeup palette. It was 28 dollars and it's pretty good makeup. Still extremely happy with it and it's been a week so far. I love love love makeup. It's pretty much my passion even though I want to produce a magazine. I always want new makeup and I always look at makeup and spend my money on it. The reason I'm really happy with it (besides the quality) is when I see for instance an eye shadow I know I already have that color in my palette.  I can do makeup looks and do what I'm passionate about without a barrier like that. I can now focus and spend my money and time on clothes, rings, shoes, and other stuff.  It's the best makeup purchase I've ever done and it's the happiest I've been with makeup in a long time. I got to try it out at Urban and my friend searched reviews on her phone.

What Happened To the Cross After Jesus died?

From an unknown person on Answers.com:

“Based on what I have read, the cross was left at the site where the crucifixion happened and was rediscovered in 326 by Constantine's mother Helena. As said, only a small fragment of that ancient wood remains and is highly guarded and kept under wraps in a church in Rome, possibly the Vatican.
I took a visit to the Dom Cathedral in Cologne, Germany. We went inside the Treasury, and were stunned to find that behind a glass box, surrounded in pure gold and silver as well as precious jewels, there were actual fragmented remains of the Holy Cross. The subtext on the wall said that it was a gift from Emperor Alexis I of Constantinople. It was altared in the 13th century. (The cathedral is the largest in all of Germany, also being the 2nd tallest in Europe. If you havent seen it in person, scribble it on your things-to-do-before-you-die list. It's breathtaking.)”

Anyway there’s a lot of controversy especially because people claim to have fragments of the cross and give it to churches but it’s fake. But what is really true is Helena did discover it and most likely the one in Rome is a true fragment because of that. What’s your opinion?

The Natural Way to Keep Eye Bags Away

I was sitting in the white chair that Younkers has in their cosmetics department (or maybe it was Von Maur?). I wanted to try out a Clinique under eye concealer. The sales person asked me where I use my concealer at. I said under my eyes and on my eyelid. She looked at me like I said something wrong. I couldn't figure out what so I just repeated myself. Then she spoke. "You don't want to use it on your eye lid. It can get into your tear duct." Fast forward real quick to when I saw a Scott barnes makeup tutorial video on YouTube. He was talking about not putting eye cream around the inner corner of your eye because it will slip into your tear duct and cause eye bags.

But don't worry the eye cream will slide and hydrate that area. But it will keep your under eye circles away too. Also the sales person recommended an eye primer. It will conceal your lid (the little veins and darkness) and keep the eye shadow from getting into, you know... your tear duct.

The Amazing Thing I Learned

So when I got done with watching ex-Hollywood actor, Frank Runyeon perform Hollywood vs. Faith in our church (yes, church), I knew I had to blog about it. After all it’s the least you can do when something changes your life :).  I will tell you only a little piece of this amazing, mind- blowing performance.

So most of us have seen Cast Away with Tom Hanks a billion times. His plane crashes on a deserted island and he is there for four years. He comes home to find out his finance got married because she thought he was dead. It is definitely not an R rated movie yet Frank’s friend said it was horrible. Why?

Even atheist phycartrists say a person abandoned on an island would bargain with God. Yet Tom Hanks talks to volleyball. True, movie producers don’t want to get involved with God stuff. But that is not what’s wrong with it. It is because we never noticed God missing! We are so used to putting God aside and excluding God from what we do. And of course those phycartrists say again that when you put something aside, something else has to become your center Like it or not, while you weren’t ‘paying attention’, something else has become your god. Yeah I’m guilty too, ladies. So let’s change it especially in this Lenten Season.

Make sure to see if Frank Runyeon is coming to you or have your church book a performance or two!

7 Deadly Skin Sins

Don't be an innocent 2nd grader when it comes to skin care.  It's time to confess these skin care ways have been irritating to your skin and blemishing your face.

The first deadly skin sin:Overly abrasive crystals/beads in your face scrub or in your face wash (even though no crystals or of that sort should be in your face wash in the first place!). And that facial scrub with the walnut shells is a don't even think about it. Wash your face night and day and exfoliate the dead skin cells off twice a month.

The second deadly skin sin: Scrub mitts or loofahs. You are basically scrubbing your skin with plastic. Just use a washcloth. It's cheaper, softer, and more effective.

The third deadly skin sin: Face products like toner that have alcohol or menthol. Signs of it is it makes your face tight and dry.

The fourth deadly skin sin: Cold or hot water. It's ok to rinse your hair with cold water for shine, but do you want that for your face?

The fifth deadly skin sin: Steaming or icing the skin. It's like hot or cold water extreme. Just plain irritating!

The sixth deadly skin sin: Facial masks containing menthol, alcohol, and fragrances.

The seventh deadly skin sin: Bar soaps and bar cleansers. It's not only irritating but drying. Switch to a moisturizing body wash.

Come clean and I hope you enjoy better skin!

Hey it's Lent

So Ash Wednesday has passed and it's the first friday of Lent! Pasta Fridays and Fish Frys here I come. Actually I never go to those things. I've always wondered why we don't eat meat on Lent Fridays and why fish is ok. But then I came across this website that answers all those questions about the Catholic faith. It's called Why Catholics Do That.
Why fish is ok?
http://whycatholicsdothat.com/why-is-fish-not-considered-meat/
But they didn't have the answer to why we fast from meat on Fridays so I researched it. The rich back then celebrated with meat. Remember that son who spent all his money and went home to become a servant to his dad? And how his father was so happy he slaughtered the calf to celebrate? To not have meat is a form of penance and spiritual discipline even if we don't celebrate with meat anymore. Also surprise! You have to do penance on every Friday even if it's not a Lent Friday. Yeah I just found it out when I researched the meat question.
Just a couple things to do during Lent especially on Friday:
Fulfill our duties more faithfully- be a good, compassionate Catholic and see Jesus in every human being
Devote ourselves to prayer-"pray short ones full of love....if we want to be able to love, we must be able to pray" -from Mother Teresa: No Greater Love, page 4

P.S. those Pond's Cleasing Wipes with Vitamin C are not good for taking off eye makeup! I use a washcloth soaked with water and gently press on my eyes a few times; it takes it all off.

Totally Tired and New Face Wash

I just got back from a grueling track practice like my legs were shaking afterwards which means I have absolute no energy left. So if you ever ran track you'll know what a 100 meter dash is (1/4 of a track). It was raining outside so we ran inside. We sprinted down a hallway (which equaled 100 meters) then up to the 3rd floor which included stairs (ugh!) and sprinted down that hallway (again 100 meters). Then down to first floor again. So that's one round! We had to do eight rounds! So right now I'm laying down on a massage mat healing my sore back (why my back and not my legs idk). After dinner which by the way it's Mardi Graz so eat like a pig, I have to lift and do an ab workout. Oh well, I have to burn off all the chocolate and cookies somehow! I also got Pond's Cleansing Wipes with Vitamin E at Target for a dollar (but it's like the travel size). I love love love them. No towels or water needed. I always feel like it's a chore to wash my face, but the wipes make it so quick and kind of fun. Plus, sometimes I don't even use a moisturizer with this cause my face doesn't feel tight.

Blessed Margaret of Castello

Right now I'm drinking lemonade :) I love this stuff. So get a glass of something you love to drink or catch up on your water (we all know we don't get enough) as you listen to a drama about a girl who was a real-life Rapunzel minus the mega long Barbie blond hair. It's amazing and after I listened to this it totally changed my attitude about suffering. This saint is truly a person who we should look up to and this drama presents a perspective on suffering I have never heard before. Enjoy and tell me what you think! Just copy and paste the link below.

Whats up :)

I pinky promise this has a point to it trust me :). So I had a subscription with Seventeen for a year. Then I got bored with it and I wanted something better. I looked into creating my own magazine that had stuff I always wanted in magazines and that other girls probably wanted too. Plus, seriously, there is no teen catholic magazines out there. I was really serious about it. I got books and researched about creating one for months. But as they always say it takes money to make money (not like I was in for the cash, more like the feeling of achievement!). Anyway, long story short I created this blog because I don't have thousands of dollars cause I'm just a teenager. I promise I'll give 100% to this. I won't forget about it even though that's a big promise to keep considering all the abandoned blogs.
